Camping at Dundubara
Due to the continued growth of our group numbers we've had to make the decision to book at a campground with ablution facilities sufficient for the number of attendees.
Dundubara Campground
Dundubara campground is 2/3rds up the Island on the Eastern side.
To get to Dundubara... driving off the barge at Hook Point you turn right and drive East and later in a North East direction, on the Eastern beach side of the island.
You will pass places such as Eurong, Yidney Rocks, Happy Valley, Eli Creek, the Maheno Shipwreck, Cathedrals and eventually get to the Dundubara campgrounds.
Dundubara is approximately 75km from where the barge drops you off at Hook Point.
The campground has 35 tent camp sites. We've booked all 35 camp sites.
The campground has 5 caravan sites, which we've also booked.
Therefore, once you get to the campground, you can basically pick your site and set up your tent or camper trailer anywhere you prefer.
Numbers are going to be tight... so please don't take up too much space.
The campground has two ablution blocks... with flushing toilets and hot water showers.
Showers require $2.00 coins to operate.
There is a kitchen wash-up area with hot water to wash your dishes.
Fires can generally be made in designated fire rings at times when there is no fire ban or general fire risk due to the weather. If there is no fire ban in place at the time of our trip, we will have a communal fire area with bbq's where everyone can braai together and socialize together.
Remember, this is a short trip, time wise... there is no need to bring a massive amount of camping gear along... weather dependent, you really only need a 2 man tent, a blow-up mattres, a camp chair and food and drink. If it is going to rain a gazebo or car awning will be useful.
For both Friday and Saturday night we'll provide bbq's where everyone can braai.
Otherwise, breakfast and lunch is for your own arrangement.
Your registration is basically payment for your camping fees... so just make sure you select the right number of people in your 'family' / 'group' at the check out point and you're good to go.

Fires
Fires... always a tricky one...
The Rangers will indicate whether fires are banned or not, due to the current weather conditions and general bush fire risks applicable at any given point in time.
If fires are not banned... then fires are generally allowed in the designated fire rings only.
Do not move the fire rings from the position you find them in. The rings are strategically placed by the Rangers.
If there is no fire ban, we will have a communal fire at the BBQ area. Ideally use this area only for camp fire during this trip.
Fire wood is to be brought onto the island and not collected randomly on the island.
Only milled wood is allowed to be brought onto the island.
At a fair price, firewood can be bought at nearby Cathedrals.
